THE
CENTRE BOW
An Incat Wave Piercing Catamaran is easily recognisable by its
distinctive centre bow
The design of these caramarans is constantly evolving, with each increase in waterline length bringing various modifications. The vessels within each generation are far from identical, with a range of configuration, fit-out and performance variations.
The primary function of the centre bow is to act as a shock absorber for waves. Typically located above the design waterline, the centre bow helps to reduce the vessel’s pitching motion as it encounters waves, acting as a significant damping system.
Incat’s continuous development across vessel generations has led to the design of the centre bow providing even greater lift during wave encounters.
Modifications such as altering the arch between the centre bow and wave piercer bows, have been implemented in later craft to increase freeboard and minimize flat surfaces. As the first part of the ship to meet waves, the centre bow ensures passengers are shielded from harsh accelerations, resulting in a smoother ride overall.

TRUCK
TURNING
The High-Speed Catamaran’s versatility and flexibility for commercial operators include the ability to carry any road-traveling vehicle. Its wide beam and well-spaced deck supports allow large trucks to easily drive on and off.
The vehicle deck arrangements on Incat vessels enable operators to configure the loading arrangement to meet demand on any particular route. This maximises revenue opportunities in the commercial world and provides year-round flexibility.
PASSENGER
COMFORT
Incat Catamarans feature highly effective ride control systems for passenger
comfort and safety
From Hull 056 onwards, these vessels have been equipped with a retractable T-foil at the aft end of the centre bow, along with two transom-mounted trim tabs. This system provides ride control forces equivalent to a pair of keel-mounted T-foils, ensuring a smooth ride on heavy seas.
The T-foil is deployed only when needed, reducing drag, saving fuel, and minimizing the risk of striking submurged objects.
In calm seas, the T-foil is retracted and the ride control system is off. In moderate seas, only the trim tabs are used, with the t-foil stowed. In high seas, the T-foil is deployed for maximum passenger comfort.
The vessels also feature trim tabs to reduce pitch and roll, improving passenger comfort. Flexible rubber mounts between the superstructure and hull minimize noise and vibration in the climate-controlled passenger cabin, maintaining a relaxing ride
FLEXIBLE
FITOUT
Incat's interiors are flexible to suit the clients needs.
Incat’s interiors range from luxurious and glamorous lounges with glitzy cocktail bars to more utilitarian, robust designs for military and offshore workboat applications. Materials used in high-speed vessels must meet stringent regulations for fire and flame retardancy, smoke development, and toxicity levels.
Interior fit-outs are constructed and finished with attention to detail and weight saving, while also maintaing sturdy, esily cleaned, and maintained features required in high-traffic areas.
Whether for a single or dual-class short-route tourist vessel or a military vessel potentially at sea for extended periods, Incat’s fit-out team tailors the interior to suit the client.
Military craft can be fitted with short-term berthing, a variety of cabins, C4ISR areas, and extensive galley and crew facility areas. Larger vessels can be equipped with escalators or elevators to move passengers from the vehicle deck to lounge levels.
