EMPLOYEE TESTIMONIALS
SOPHIE EAVES
Fitout Leading Hand
After completing her joinery apprenticeship Sophie opted for a sea change and joined Incat in the fitout department. As Fitout Leading hand, Sophie and her team of highly skilled tradespeople play a crucial role in completing the various components and systems on board the vessel.
“There’s plenty of opportunity here and there’s so much to learn. There’s always a new skill, even though I’m a qualified tradesperson and have been for 10 years I’m still learning things all the time. We’ve got a lot ahead of us so there’s only bigger and better to come.”
RICKY POWELL
Welding Leading Hand
Wanting to get a trade and build boats, Ricky started with Incat back in 1989 as a Labourer. A Leading Hand in the welding crew, Ricky is one of the most experienced tradespeople in the shipyard and plays an important role in helping to build the world’s best lightweight aluminium ferries. The first boat Ricky worked on was the Hoverspeed Great Britain in 1990.
“I love working with the trainees and the apprentices, it’s great to watch them grow. If they’re struggling a bit, you help them out and if they’re going well, you pat them on the back and tell them they’re doing a great job. That makes them more confident and motivated.”
